Once Upon a Time | Stuff from 1x15

Besides Snow White providing comic relief by constantly being surprised / startled / scared, and the obvious parallels between a woman's menstrual cycle and the curse of being a werewolf, here are other things from episode 1x15: Red-Handed.

I see the bad moon rising...

August Talks Lemurs

Ruby: What was your favorite place?
August: Nepal. Best people. They have these prayer temples carved into mountains that are overrun with lemurs.
Ruby: What’s a lemur?
August: They’re little animals. And they have these eyes that reflect light, so at night it looks like they glow.

Granny and Ruby Diss Each Other

Granny: For one thing, you were late. For another thing, Liza, you dress like a drag queen during Fleet Week.
Ruby: And you dress like Norman Bates when he dresses like Norman Bates' mother.

Dr. Whale Wants To Carry Ruby's Bag

If only this were a full moon night in Fairy Tale Land.

Red and Granny's Secret

Granny reveals the family secret to Snow White.

Granny's Scars

The Big Bad Wolf

The Heart Box

Old Age Cures Lycanthropy

Old age is not only the cure for life, but in Fairy Tale Land it's also the cure for being a werewolf. So, do not despair if every full moon you have the nasty habit of turning into a ferocious, four-legged, killing machine that devours your neighbors and their livestock--just live long enough for it to fade away.

Ruby Figures Out Her Life

Ruby pre-epiphany and post-epiphany

After her blowup with Granny, Ruby tries to figure out her life's purpose. She tries working with Emma, but searching for bodies and unearthing human organs don't sit well with her. She realizes that she was happy working with Granny and that's what she wants to do in life. The epiphany apparently had a power washer effect because she returns to Granny with less make-up and dressed less ho-ish. The cosmetic change could also be because she realized that she did indeed resemble Liza and drag queens.

    1. Granny said Ruby started changing at 13 that's around the age most girls start, and as you get older the curse goes away = menopause. Not to mention PMS can make some women beastly.

    1. There are no lemurs in Nepal. Lemurs live in Madagascar. So he's not being completely honest.

  4. There are no lemurs in Nepal. Lemurs live only in Madagascar.

  5. Read on a different board someone pointed out Lemurs are native to only Madagascar, so either writers slipped up or most likley he was lying.

  6. I didn't think that it was old age that cured Granny from being a werewolf. I assumed it was because she wasn't from the bloodline and was only "marked" by her husband so it wasn't a permanent condition. Interesting theory though.

    1. If she was only "marked", why would she have a super-human sense of smell? Do explain.

  7. Does it matter if August was lieing about lemurs? I mean, it was kinda just a joke.

  9. Fortunately those folks who created the Facebook page dedicated to Ruby's waitress uniform (well maybe there isn't one, but if Angelina Jolie's right leg rates one I'm sure someone's thought of doing it) can rest easy - looks like she was in her usual kit in the next episode. Though we only saw her from the wait up so she could have been wearing slacks...

  10. I can't believe no one has commented on how TRAGIC it was that she ate her boyfriend. Hello? She ate her love interest? Twisted! I liked him!

  11. I don't think Peter is actually dead. I think he's turned into a werewolf. See the actor Jesse Hutch's demo reel-- it looks like he's going to reappear in Storybrooke (and that Ruby might get injured/die?)
