Emma's Door | Easter Eggs | Secrets | Trivia

Emma's door to her Boston apartment seems to have a spell written on it. It would've be pretty cool if it were The Dark Curse, but alas, ABC said it was on the set when they got there, so they just used it. It is pretty cool though.

Here's what's visible on Emma's door:

way 302.5 foyer 192.19 ingress

section 304.1 opening 265.1 door

302.6 entrance cast a spell 1030

865.8 fascinate 650.6 captivate

spellbind cast a spell beguile

transport

mesmerize entranced

535.25 overjoyed

  1. Is it really a coincidence that the door just happened to be there. Does it really mean nothing?

  2. So the door means nothing? That sucks.

  3. There is a number system for Tales called the AT Type Scale. Or ATU, which are initials of the creators of the system. I thought that might have been the numbers when I first saw this. Here is a link to understand the system.

  5. What’s on Emma’s door are thesaurus entries. “Entrance” can mean a door or foyer. As a verb, it can mean cast a spell, captivate, etc.

  6. It's weird how the door just happens to say "cast a spell"

    1. They lied about "only one knows the truth" too. I noticed they no longer say that in the intro.

    1. It looks like a calligraphy font. Google "calligraphy font" and you'll probably find it.

    2. It appears to be what I've seen labeled as "Hannibal Lecter" font. Just google it and you'll find it.

  9. Anybody else notice that every time Mr. Gold visits, Emma comes to the door with a knife? I don't know... I half expected to see that here (hehe).

  10. Its a show written in bits and pieces so of course things change. Like August said this week you start writing with one idea and then your perspective changes...I'm sure its the same for show writers

  11. If it was a coincidence, it sure was a happy one!

  12. I have a link to all the different numbers mentioned on the door with their fairy tale counterparts, according to the Aaren-Thompson index. http://lostonceuponatime.tumblr.com/post/20749381595/aarne-thompson-classification-system-and-once-upon-a

  13. Someone designed a decoration for a door with thesaurus entries related to the word entrance ... because it's a door, the entrance to a home. EN-trance is a door and en-TRANCE is to cast a spell. Notice all the words are synonyms of those two meanings. It wasn't created originally to be about magic or fairy tales, but I can imagine them stumbling upon it and realizing it would be great for this show.

  14. ~Jade:
    They're thesaurus entries.
