[+] ► [-] Red Riding Hood Bio
Red lives with her grandmother, Granny. During wolf's time—a once a month occurrence that happens during the full moon—a big bad wolf terrorizes the locals—ripping through livestock, eating people, polluting wells—typical big bad wolf stuff.
Red loves Peter, a long-time friend, but they can't see each other because of Granny, who is very protective of Red. She scarcely lets Red out of her sight and makes her wear a red riding hood that she claims is a wolf repellent.
Every night during wolf's time, Granny and Red hunker down by barring the door and securing the windows of their cottage. After locking up tighter than Fort Knox, Red goes to bed, and Granny keeps watch with a crossbow that's loaded with a silver-tipped bolt.
One morning, while gathering eggs, Red finds Snow White hiding in their chicken coop. She welcomes Snow White into their home, and Snow White soon notices Granny's intensity.
Red confesses that she feels trapped by Granny's wolf-phobia. Snow White tells Red that Granny's right to be concerned for her safety, but she's wrong to use the wolf as an excuse to keep Red and Peter apart.
Red figures she and Peter can be together if she kills the wolf. Snow White tries to talk her out of it, but Red is determined, so they set out to kill the wolf. They find the wolf's tracks and follow them directly to Red's window. They have a Scooby-Doo moment and deduce that Peter must be the wolf since he visited Red at her bedroom window the previous night.
Red refuses to believe that Peter is the murderous wolf, and Snow White suggests that maybe turning into the wolf also gives him amnesia. Red decides that must be true, and to prevent further death-by-werewolf, she also decides to tell Peter that he's the wolf. Red knows Granny'll soon be looking for her if she isn't home soon, so Snow White stays behind to deal with Granny while Red sneaks away to meet Peter and deliver the bad news.
Snow White devises a plan that could've come from The Middle Schoolers Guide to Fooling Parents; she puts on Red's cloak and lies in her bed, hoping Granny wouldn't know the difference. The only thing lamer than that would've been wrapping a pillow in Red's cloak and joining Red.
At night fall, Granny calls on Red to help secure the cottage. Snow White lies still, and Granny--believing her to be a sleeping Red--tries to wake her and discovers the ruse. Snow White admits that Red has gone to tell Peter he's the wolf. Snow White begins to ramble and lecture, but Granny has no time for her jibber-jabber and issues a well-deserved, yet sanitized version of STFU, when she says, "You stupid, careless, ridiculous girl."
As it turns out, Granny's overprotective behavior towards Red was not to keep Red safe from the wolf but to keep everyone safe from Red because Red Riding Hood is a bloody werewolf, as was her mother and grandfather before her, and she's unaware that she's the vicious monster that's been terrorizing the locals.
Granny's also a werewolf and uses her keen werewolf sense of smell like GPS to track Red. Snow White tags along, and Granny reveals that she bought Red's cloak from a wizard, and it's enchanted—the cloak will stave off transformation if worn. They find Red, but since Snow White is wearing Red's magical cloak, Red is now Big Bad Wolf Red. And she's in the process of tearing Peter limb from limb.
Red lunges at Snow and Granny, but Granny takes herself and Snow off the menu by shooting Red with a silver-tipped bolt. Red drops out of the air like The Hindenburg and lands with a thud. Granny orders Snow White to cover Red with the cloak. Once covered, deadly-werewolf-Red becomes confused-human-Red. Granny and Snow White tell her that she's the wolf. Red's on the verge of a breakdown, but there isn't time for that because wolf hunters are approaching. Granny tells Snow White and Red to leave immediately. They exit, leaving Granny to face the oncoming hunters.

Dude, he is so the wolf. You have to tell him.

*tee-hee-hee* Granny will never know the difference.

when is ruby's episode airing?
ReplyDeleteI think there is a good chance that Red Riding hood is Esmerelda from The hunch back. She talks about Snow White being her friend and helping her when no one else would. Plus it would explain how she knew about Rumple. I mean she supposed to be this sweet innocent girl. Why would she be talking to groups of people that would be talking about such dark magic? I think she can see the future. If you look at their pictures side by side its kind of crazy how much she looks like her. Another reason I think Rumple is actually good. Why would Red send Snow to him if he weren't? Plus it would be funny if her name is Ruby (red gem) and she's actually Esmerelda (green gem).
ReplyDeleteIn 7:15 she was wearing a golden necklace, talking to snow in the woods. Can't figure out what it is. A leaf of some kind. Can anyone tell?
ReplyDeleteIt's a cross. Here's a pic: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BBZeRlDj4AY/Tx9dRC4dGwI/AAAAAAAABFs/jKgip4Fv9Kg/s1600/ouat-red-riding-hood-1x10-05.jpg
DeleteWell there is a good chance that is is Esmeralda. I mean the show is made by disney and there are a lot of references to it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how Ruby only get's a few minutes of scene time, but she is my favourite character by far! There is so much potential in her character, in both worlds, and I feel that the writers are slowly exploring it. So excited to see a Ruby-centric episode coming up. Meghan Ory is flawless. :)
ReplyDeleteThey do look alike.. What if Esmerelda was ruby's sister?!!
ReplyDeleteJust saw the episode Red Handed. BEST ONE EVER! Red was the wolf! I was more scared for David
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense that she is the wolf, because in our world she has a red-infused glass wolf decoration, which she says is "good luck" which we now learned why its so special to her. Her song ofcourse is she wolf by shakira! ;)
ReplyDeletethis website is great yea she is my favorite character and the stranger i think they have crazy chemistry and would be a fun and super adventurous couple too bad they are trying to couple him with emma. I think emma belongs with graham nobody else. I was so happy thought that ruby and the stranger were flirting i hope they have more scenes together. Hey can anyone tell me if the stranger and ruby interact in other scenes thank you if not i'll watch the one's he's in eventually i just like to see them together i think the whole cast is great and the writers magnificant job they are doing BRAVO!!!!
ReplyDeleteOne of the curse effects is also preventing transformation.
ReplyDeleteUpdated. Thanks. :)
Deletetechnically, she's not completely human even in Storybrooke, she still had superhuman senses, and Granny I bet still has hers too, since her arm apparently hurt "every full-moon"
Deletewhat's a bolt? I thought Granny used an arrow to shoot Red.
ReplyDeleteA bolt is a crossbow arrow.

Red and Peter (loving couple)
Red and Peter (a non-OUAT fan: *ummm, I think someone goofed up the pics*
You say this like it's no big deal:
ReplyDelete•Granny's granddaughter
•Hair color: Brown
•Eye color: Hazel
•Height: 5'7"
•Werewolf
*someone reads this: "okay, granny, Hair, eyes, height, werewolf... wait, werewolf?*
Not, that i'm complaining, it makes it more enjoyable and interesting to read. YOu never know what to expect.
Real name is Liza. Wonder why that is?
ReplyDeleteIf her special cloak was so expensive, why do we see her in at least three different ones throughout the series? Did they (Granny and Red) get some economic boost from knowing about wolftime and being friends with Snow so the cloaks are easier to come by?
ReplyDeletewhat necklace is ruby wearing when he goes back to the diner to ask granny for her job back? It's episode 15 red-handed season 1 thanks!
ReplyDelete@Jenni, Red would only need one magic cloak for the full moon she would want extra normal so the chance she ruins her magic one wouldn't be as great.
ReplyDeleteRuby is my fave character I luv the episodes where she or red riding hood is a big character
ReplyDeleteHey does anyone know where Ruby's beanie is from? I love it and I can't seem to find it anywhere :( if you do know I would really appreciate it if you told me :)
